Neck Pain

neckpain-1024x480Today’s modern living often entails hours of driving and hunching over workstations, which can play havoc with our necks. Poor posture when we sit, stand and sleep can have a huge impact. So it is not surprising that neck pain is the second most common condition that chiropractors treat.

When the joints in the neck region fail to slide and glide as they were intended to, the surrounding nerves and soft tissues become irritated. Muscles often spasm, causing referred pain and headaches. The most common causes that chiropractors identify and treat are soft tissue abnormalities from injury (such as falls, bumps and whiplash) or prolonged wear and tear..

Other symptoms may include persistent neck stiffness, pinching or pulling in the upper back, pain in the shoulders and ribs, blurred vision, poor flexibility, sinus problems, snoring, depression, anxiety and memory loss.

When neck pain is related to a disc injury people may experience symptom’s (weakness, pins and needles, burning) into their arms, and hands. These injuries are less common and often require further imaging and careful management.

With effective chiropractic care, correct flexibility can be restored and with regular maintenance, and home exercises, you can ensure it stays that way!
